While New York is famously known for established art exhibitionist, there is a whole other group of guerrilla underground artists interested serving the lesser known areas with creative images that feels like a hidden treasures when found. It is my mission in this series to find those pieces of public art in NYC and display them in a series called Odd Art NYC. If they are instillations that I believe will be there long enough for someone else to visit, I will mention the district. Otherwise these are random art pieces that I find special along my commute in NYC.
Stamped couple elephants
I still don’t understand why these elephants remind me of Sonny and Cher. (Soho)
Spotted snake pipe
This one was quite a treat. I was walking by a alley of apartments and found this gem. I believe who ever the artist is did not mean for this to be a permanent art instillation because I still pass my this pole and the art has faded now unfortunately, like it was made with sidewalk chalk. (Hamilton Heights)
Just some well placed, thought provoking, NYC grafitti. (Hamilton Heights)
We’re Hawking You
Exiting the 1 train uptown, I found two birds staring me down (did you like that rhyme? okay.. sorry) (Hamilton Heights)
